Tickets of the Welsh Highland Railway 1923 – 1936
- £6 post paid
This 42 page soft-cover, profusely illustrated, A4 book in full
colour shows examples of all the numerous tickets issued by the
Welsh Highland during its brief life. It is indeed a reflection of
the history of the line through its ticket issues. The book includes
examples of the famous ticket punch carried by the guard and seen in
many old photos of the line and it also includes a copy of the First
Class Free Pass issued to Col H. F. Stephens in 1924.
Compiled by Welsh Highland historians John Keylock and Derek
Lystor, it is a real bargain at £6.50. Click here

The Buffet Car - £6 post paid
The buffet car was the first vehicle of its type to grace any
narrow gauge railway in the country. Converted from an original
North Wales Narrow Gauge coach it was sold along with the rest of
the stock in 1942. That it survived was one of those serendipitous
events which characterise railway preservation; that it is been
restored to its original condition by Welsh Highland Heritage
Railway at Gelert's Farm is
something of a minor miracle.
Here Peter Liddell covers every aspect of the vehicle using
photographs and drawings. There is also a full sized reproduction of
the original 1942 sale document which has also survived. |
